Apostille for Grant of Probate and Last Will and Testament

Not just an apostille service. We also obtain the necessary official copy grant of probate and associated last will and testament. All included in our fixed price service.

If the deceased held assets overseas, it is often a requirement for the grant of probate and last will and testament to be legalised with the hague apostille. This may be immediately after probate has been granted or some years later.

  • In the first instance, we obtain an official copy of the requested grant of probate and associated last will and testament. This is an official court sealed and certified copy issued directly from HMCTS (Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service). HMCTS hold the original and official copy of both the grant of probate and associated last will and testament. It is from this government department where all subsequent copies are issued.
  • The court sealed and certified grant of probate with annexed last will and testament is then presented by us to the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) The FCDO is the UK government department responsible for the legalisation of all official public documents. The apostille certificate is affixed to the document and then embossed with FCDO seal. The apostille certificate confirms to member countries of the Hague Convention that the embossed court seal issued by HMCTS is genuine. No further endorsement should be necessary.

Please note, our apostille service for a grant of probate and last will and testament is only available for probate granted within England or Wales (UK).
